Time Management In The Workplace (part 2 of 2)

3.) Do Things That Would Take 5 Minutes Or Less Immediately

Another time management skill in the workplace is that if you do a task that would only take you 5 minutes or less you need to that as soon as you receive it. When doing this, you will get the less important things out of the way immediately and you won't waste time thinking about doing it later.

4.) Keeping Your Workplace Clean And Organized

One of the major causes of ineffective time management, especially in the workplace, is not keeping your desk or office organized. Keep your office well organized, like keeping in places you have assigned them to and you won’t waste your time searching for things that you need. Doing this also minimizes items from going missing as you would know exactly where you left them.

5.) Prioritizing

Setting and listing your major priorities is vital. Therefore, an important time management tip would be that you should and always know both long term and daily basis of what your priorities are.

6.) Dividing Your Workload

You don’t have to do everything yourself. You can divide yours with other office personnel. This not only cuts time in terms of finishing your office workload but also makes it easier on your part. When you know someone in your workplace that can get the job done faster than you then you can delegate the load to that person.

7.) Setting Smart Goals

Setting goals that would be achievable, rewarding, specific, and timely would let you know what you are working towards for. Goals are useful in presenting to you what kind of steps you need to take in order to fulfill your dreams for the future.

Construction Contractor: How To Spot A Reliable And Trustworthy One (part 2 of 2)

Check Their Safety Standards

Safety standards are one important aspect that construction companies should clearly state to the clients. Do they follow various safety and health procedures during operation of the project? Do their construction job workers follow the right procedure when it comes to health and safety aspect? Do they comply with rules and regulations as in accordance with constructions safety and health act?

Check also if the construction company is abreast with the government's current standards in the same issue. Check if they do immediately train their construction job workers and employees to meet the new government's safety standard. Always remember to hire a contractor which is always at par with current standards to avoid unwanted injuries to both workers and the bystanders; and more importantly, to avoid facing serious legal actions. As they say, it is better safe now than sorry later.

Can They Provide What you Want or Need for the Project?

It is important to ask if the contractor can supply the materials and other needs according to your preference. If possible, be familiar with the kind of supplies they provide to ensure you are getting the most of your money. Also, check their reputation when it comes to finished projects. You can ask for references which they have previously worked on and see the quality of work they have done. A reliable contractor will not have any second thoughts when you ask for local references. If they do, then this is going to be a risk should you hire them.

Trust Your Gut Feeling

Finally, check whether you effectively communicate with the contractor and their construction job workers or you have difficulty relaying to them what you want. Even if they pass the above checkpoints but your gut instinct is telling there is something wrong working with them, there is no point in hiring them. Always remember that healthy working relationship is one key to successfully completing a project with the construction company.

Construction Contractor: How To Spot A Reliable And Trustworthy One (part 1 of 2)

In a construction industry, choosing the right contractor is crucial. This is because it is the contractor which will provide the materials, equipment, devices, machines, and sometimes even the specific construction jobs. In short, you are spending a big chunk of money of your investment in a contractor, so you don't want one which you cannot trust. If you are not careful about this aspect, untoward incidents may happen without warning such as careless injuries, poorly constructed buildings, and construction projects missing the target deadline. And worse, you will end up running costs unlawfully higher than what was projected.

Whether you need a contractor to provide services and needs to your construction project such as temporary or permanent structures like formwork, scaffolding, or commercial or residential building, you need to be very vigilant in looking for the right contractor. This is to ensure the project will be completed properly, safely, and professionally and thus avoid law suits which happen massively every year because of failure between contractor-client professional relationships.

Here are the things you should do when searching for an outstanding contractor for your construction project:

Assess and Compare Reputable Contractors

To start with, you need to identify at least two or three reputable contractors. Interact with each and research to assess the kind of job they offer. One thing that tells a contractor has a strong work ethic and has been trusted by different clients is they will be able to answer directly and clearly questions which you may throw at them. They will also give you the right advices on important factors specifically the materials, costs, time frame, construction jobs and others. The weight of advice they can dispense is one key indicator that they are the right contractor which can give the outstanding job you require.

Layout and Design Considerations for Retirement Communities (part 2 of 2)

Social Design

The social aspect is an important consideration in these projects. Gerontologic health is closely linked to social integration, so there must be ample opportunities for residents to socialize. This mandates not only such first level social areas such as clubhouse or common recreational and sports areas. Though must be put into designing common areas to encourage socialization.

The major dilemma is how to balance appropriately interspersed social areas while maintaining a sense of spaciousness and privacy. Housing that is too close together feels safer, but may be agoraphobic. Domiciles that are too far apart make social calls difficult as they discourage ambulation. A balance must be struck between the need for time alone and the need for interaction.

Aesthetics

This is still an important consideration, but should take a back seat to other concerns. This does not mean that you should take the lazy route and go for institutionalized or ultraconservative design. Remember that this industry is highly competitive and if all other things are equal, then the way your project looks will factor greatly in the success of the endeavor.

A beautiful location is always a great starting point. Most seniors want retirement communities to be somewhere warm, preferably in proximity to lakes or the ocean. That being said, a beautiful mountainous region may also hold some appeal. Though a somewhat conservative overall feel may keep from alienating individuals of an earlier generation, there is something to be said about the excitement that can be generated by a modern design.

Remember that good taste transcends age and upbringing.

Layout and Design Considerations for Retirement Communities (part 1 of 2)

An important trend in residential and community design is the emerging interest in age restricted projects. Retirement communities are specifically targeted to people over the age of 65 who want to relocate to surroundings which focus on convenience and quality of life. The special needs of this age group demand critical thinking when planning the layout of the facilities as well as the design of individual housing units and common spaces.

Practicalities

Most clients will be keenly interested in the available facilities of your project. Medical support is of prime importance, so if you do not plan to have a tertiary care medical facility within your compound, consider having at least secondary or primary care readily available. In these instances a well-equipped tertiary care hospital should not be too far away.

Commercial areas where residents can purchase necessities such as food, prescriptions, and common household items should be incorporated. Residents will appreciate easily accessible restaurants and cafes to break the monotony of home cooking. Alternatively, a system which allows easy contact with delivery from outside establishments should be in place.

Age-specific Design Considerations.

Both common and private areas should be designed with the special needs of older individuals in mind. Wider access paths are necessary when they need to be negotiated with walkers, wheelchairs, or human assistance. Warning and directional signs should be large and easy to read. Pathways must be designed with gentle slopes, non-slip surfaces, and frequent rest areas.

Older individuals generally prefer one-story housing, however, well maintained elevators of a good size are an acceptable alternative. Focused group discussions reveal that most people want wide airy spaces, with adequate lighting. Numerous rails and handholds must be in place. Doorknobs, windows, drawers and cabinet pulls should all be easy to grasp for arthritic hands.

Say No to Forum Spamming (part 2 of 2)

It Doesn’t Work

Adults are different from children. They’re already smart and mature enough to understand a simple lesson at the first try. Repeating the same message over and over, as it is, is unnecessary.

Now, if you’re practicing spamming in hopes of convincing people to try out your product or service, you’re going about the wrong way, too. To convince a person, repetition is not needed. Instead, you need to give people different reasons to change their minds. The more reasons you give them, the greater chances you’ll have of convincing them to see things your way. But if you stubbornly sticking to one reason then you’ll achieve nothing.

Forum Marketing Strategies to Replace Spamming

You should be convinced by now of the utter futility of spamming in forums. Don’t wait till your online business collapse before you decide to change your ways. Use a different – not to mention legitimate – technique now and you won’t regret it.

To help you get started, consider providing valuable contribution that showcases your expertise. Choose questions that you can answer as an “expert”. Get to know other people in the forum and build relationships with them. Post your link in your profile page and signature. Last but not the least, use a cool username to get more attention!
